Set your Vehicle for a Long Trip

Traveling for a long mile seem exhausting to your vehicle. Even a small minor problem may cause your trip a huge hassle. In this Article you can find simple tips on how to prepare your vehicle for a trip. But this list of tips not include many other important items. Before we start the checklist always remember to have an appointment to your mechanic days prior to your trip.

Your car manual is essential.
Always to check on your vehicle manual because it contains a lot of helpful information. If your vehicle need to top up oil or other fluids before and during the trip, you can find the capacity specifications as well as recommended oil types in your vehicle's manual. It also contains regarding on how to jump-start a car if your battery dies.

Check the Oil on your engine.
How to check the oil, park on the level area, warm your engine then stop. Allow the oil drain down to the pan for a minute, then put the oil dipstick out. Wipe the stick clean and insert it back. Pull out again and check the oil level. The level should be close to a full mark on the dipstick. If you notice that your Vehicle consumes a Lot of oil on your engine between the changes, it's a better idea to take some spare oil with you on your long trip.

Your Car Battery
Check the condition of your battery. Always looks for cracks and other leaks that may cause your battery to die out. Make Sure that the connections are not rusted because it is commonly the main cause to the battery problems. If your battery is 5 years or older, be sure to test it out before going on a trip.

Check the Transmission.
A Trip with a huge mileage will be a big test to your transmission. If it need to change before the trip, make sure to do it so. To check, Use the same procedure with the oil engine. with the use of the transmission dipstick. Over time your transmission fluid lose its qualities and oxidize due to high temperatures. To determine check the fluid's color if its to dark be sure to change before the trip.

Your Tires.
Always remember to check the pressure of your tires. Try to look on your manual for the correct specifications of your tire. Make some road test whether if you feel some vibration when you speed up. Check for tearing on your tires and be sure to bring a spare.

Your lights, horns and other Electrical Accessories.
Be sure always to check the lights, horns and wind shield wipers. Remember to bring a couple of spare lights  for your vehicle. Check your Air conditioner functions properly. Take a look on your side mirror is clean and crack free.
